URPoint Details
One of the most picturesque towns in England, on the banks of the River Rother is a very safe haven for yachts, was once a flourishing harbour.
In the town centre stands the Church of St Mary dating from 1120 and has a clock with Quarter Boys who chime the hour.
It is a town for strolling in, with hilly streets, many of them still cobbled and many Tudor, Stuart and Georgian houses.
Mermaid Street is probably the best known for its steep cobbled street lined with mostly 15th and 17th century houses and its famous Inn.
