Ruyton-XI-Towns

Ruyton-XI-Towns , England

URPoint Details

The red-sandstone village takes its name when in 1301 eleven hamlets merged. As a result the main street stretches a mile and is the longest in the country.
Walls and foundations some 8ft are all that remains of a 14th century castle.

The church has an early Norman chancel, and in the churchyard is a sundial dated 1725.
