The Church of St James the Great is a beautiful, small flint chancel, with faded 13th century paintings of saints on the East lancets.
The paintings of angels are 20th century work, the wagon roof is 14th century.
In the chancel are the lovely redbrick nave of 1638 and West tower of 1639. The Ten Commandments were painted above the chancel in the late 16th century and the pulpit and sounding board are 17th century.
On the North wall is an impressive monument to Sir James Eyre, d 1799, composed of a sculpture of a woman beside an urn, over which a branch of weeping willow drapes.
The church has been a Grade I listed building since 1967
