Royal Porthcawl Golf Club

Founded 1891, there is not a single hole on the fine links at Royal Porthcawl that does not have a view of the sea. But it is not all eside golf, for part of the 18 hole, 6685 yards, par 72 course climbs to the top of a hill where the fairways have more of a heathland feel about them.

Royal Porthcawl's entitlement to an honoured place among the world's best golf courses is usually confirmed by the playing of the first three holes that run alongside, and in places seem part of, the scalloped edge of Rest Bay.

The 18th is played directly towards the sea, the prevailing wind and the setting sun. When all those are in their glory, there are few finer finishes. Handicap 20 men, 30 ladies.
