In 1838, Queen Victoria bestowed the title of ‘Royal’ at the height of this spa town, where underground springs feed the Baths and Pump Room.
On the north bank of the River Leam there is a mixture of architecture with Georgian, Regency and early Victorian houses laid out in terraces and squares.
