URPoint Details
Mentioned in the Domesday Book the village lay on a Roman road between Godmanchester and Verulamium.
Tucked behind the A420 east of Great Barford and the Tempsford Bridge which crosses the Great River Ouse, are a variety of pretty well kept houses and thatched cottages.
Traction Engine Rallies are held here each year in the grounds of Roxton House where long horn cattle graze under the trees. Against the backdrop of the House, is a little thatched and whitewashed Congregational Chapel which was constructed with the help of the Metcalf family who lived at the House.
The overhanging thatch supported by rustic uprights, enforcing the romantic pastoral theme of the 1820's.
