To the north you come to a fork in the road, if you take the right one leading over the hills you reach a height of 1,421ft with Shalloch on Minnoch rising to 2,520ft to the east and later reaching Straiton in the valley of the Water of Girvan.
If you take the left fork you cross the lonely Nick o’ the Balloch Pass at 1,250ft and descends into Maybole.
Both the roads are winding and near extra care.
