The village boasts a supermarket, post office, service station, a fruit orchard, riding school and a bowling green.
A feature of this little village is the Neolithic barrow that has been traced by crop markings from the air, and four tumuli on the heath have revealed beads and an urn.
A turnpike road was built in 1611, parallel to the present Norwich Road.
The church of St Mary's is 14th century and the round Saxon tower is notable for the inner doorway which is about 12ft from the ground. After the Black Death, the village was moved from east of the church to the northwest.
