URPoint Details
Situated in the lovely Strath Oykell on the Oykell River near the point where it is joined by the turbulent Cassley flowing down the long valley of Glen Cassley to the north.
Near the point where the Lairg road crosses the Cassely are the remains of Auchness Castle.
There are several remains of brochs in the area and at Tutim a little to the west is where a fierce clan battle took place in 1408.
To the east of the village the road divides, the left fork leads to Lairg and the right fork to Bonar Bridge.
