URPoint Details
A small village lying on the Lyne Water with the pretty Cowie's Linn waterfall at 10.5m (35 feet) in height, nearby.
To the south near Newlands church are the 'Romano Terraces' on the hillside there origin unknown.
The ruins of Drochil Castle at the point where the Tarth Water and Lyne Water meet, was left incomplete in 1581, by its owner the Regent Morton having been executed by association of the murder of Darnley.
To the northeast is the 16th century Halmyre House said to have been erected by the Tweedies of Drumelzier, who held the property in the 16th and early 17th centuries
