Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is now headquarterd adjacent to the famed Goodwood Circuit motor racing and aviation venue in West Sussex, having made the move from its previous home of Crewe after BMW acquired the world's most famous auto brand and transferred it in 2003.
Rolls-Royce Motors former co-brand, Bentley -- named after the famed motor engineer, W.O. Bentley -- remained at Crewe under the new ownership of VW.
Creating a spiritual home for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars for the 21st Century meant more than just designing a building to house the headquarters and manufacturing plant, for architect Sir Nicholas Grimshaw. The challenge was to make it a symbol of Rolls-Royce's innovative approach - unique, forward-thinking and a world apart.
Perhaps it's Roll-Royce's comfort at being produced from historic Goodwood, a Spitfire fighter base during World War Two and a famous motor racing venue pre-war and revived post-war, helps in part to explain the record sales the marque currently enjoys.
