In the 1730s Dr Jemmet Browne enlarged and remodelled the original 1602 house. He employed the Italian stuccodores Paolo & Filippo Lafrancini who adorned the dining room ceiling with allegorical figures and its walls with classical figures, rococo flowers and foliage.
