Forms the boundary between the counties of Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire in the south-west and for most of its length, the boundary between Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire for the final 3 miles (5 km) of its total length of 73 miles (117 km). It flows into the sea at Cardigan.
The Teifi has its source in Llyn Teifi, one of several lakes known collectively as the Teifi Pools. The source is in the Cambrian Mountains at 455m
Tivyside is a beautiful valley of the Tefi and the river was once famous for its beavers and now for salmon and trout. The river divides Cardiganshire from Pembrokeshire and then beyond, Llechryd from Carmarthenshire.
