Loch, river and firth of east central Scotland. The loch is 16 miles long and is famous for its salmon and trout fishing.
The river rises in Loch Tay and winds through Strath Tay to the Firth of Tay which separates Angus from Fife.
The Tay Bridge which carries the railway from Fife across the Firth of Tay to Dundee is over two miles long and was built between 1882-1887 to replace an earlier structure blown down with a train crossing in a gale of December 28th 1879.
