The mighty Clyde flows from its source near Biggar, passing through upland moors then through the Vale of Lanark before it enters the greatest waterway in the world and was once a bustling and thriving shipbuilding area.
There are three falls to the Falls of Clyde near Lanark being Cora Linn, Bonnington Linn and Stonebyres Linn.
The Clyde once known as Clota, which is said to mean 'of a river goddess', the washer, the strongly flowing one.
