Richard Walter Burton was born 10 November 1925 in Pontrhydyfen,
He married five times including twice to Elizabeth Taylor.
In 1957 Burton became a tax exile by moving to Switzerland, where he lived until his death on 5 August 1984 in Celigny, of a cerebral haemorrhage.
Although never winning an Oscar he did win Academy Award Nominations
