Richard Brinsley Sheridan, born in Dublin on 30 October 1751 and died in poverty on 7 July 1816.
His many plays included ‘The Rivals’, ‘St Patrick’s Day’, and ‘The Duenna’, but his most popular was ‘School for Scandal’ in 1777.
Not only was he a great playwright but also a great parliamentary orator and became a Whig MP from 1780-1812.
