Rev. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson was born in Daresbury in 1832 but is better known as Lewis Carroll.
He wrote Alice's Adventure in Wonderland in 1865. The church with its red, blue and gold stained glass commemorating Alice, the Mad Hatter and other of his characters is set in glorious countryside with rhododendrons. He was a Student and Mathematical Lecturer of Christ Church and a Fellow of Magdalen. Lewis Carroll died in 1898 and is buried in Guildford, where he had spent much time at his sisters' home.
