URPoint Details
A chain ferry provides a vehicle link over the river Yare from Norwich to Great Yarmouth and can carry 3 cars at a time. The river can also be crossed by a railway swing bridge, an iron bridge built in 1846 carries trains from Norwich to Lowestoft. The swing bridge is now electrically operated and swings open to let yachts pass through.
There are also large vessels that navigate the river and it is quite a sight to see them squeeze by the bridge as they carry fuel to the sugar beet factory at Cantley.
Briar Cottage Tea Rooms once the Brickmakers Arms now sells delicious teas and cream scones.
The church has a prominent 15th century tower, old pews and the Berney Chapel.
