The ancient county town of Royal Berkshire developed on the banks of two great rivers - The Thames and The Kennet.
This excellent location within the Thames Valley has always made a popular destination. Being so close to London, Oxford, Windsor and other major destinations Reading is the perfect tourist base.
Jane Austen went to school here and Oscar Wilde wrote his ballad ‘Ballad of Reading Gaol’ and ‘De Profundis’ during his imprisonment here.
There are some very impressive Georgian buildings and even earlier ones in London Street.
