Lawns, flowerbeds, ornamental pools and fountains is haven of peace in the heart of the city. The site of a dock (opened in 1778 and used by shipping until the late 1920's), the first of a chain of docks built in Georgian times along the line of the walls and moat which enclosed the town centuries ago. Lunch-time music concerts on certain days during the summer.
