With four miles of sandy beaches the resort is now a typical seaside resort but it has not always been so peaceful, in the 18th century saw Prestatyn as a centre for lead-mining.
In the 12th century Owain Cyfeiliog, Prince of Powis tried to unite Wales. He defeated Henry II in two battles and gained control of Prestatyn Castle. Unfortunately, his allies turned against him and destroyed them both.
