25 acres of garden including an 18th century Italian style terraced area, a 19th century woodland area and a 20th century Edwardian formal area all planted on different levels. The topiary and hedges unify all these sections and there are many other important features including fine container plantings and the largest collection of herbaceous and tender perennial plants within the NT gardens.
By making use of microclimate positions a great variety of effects can be achieved, including tropical, arid and luxuriant plantings, all thriving in close proximity to each other. There are spectacular views throughout the garden.
