URPoint Details
The little church of St Mary’s (Churches Conservation Trust), at the end of a lane in farming uplands south of Woburn, dates mainly from the early 14th century and consists of nave and chancel in one and a south porch. J D Sedding, who was closely involved with the Arts and Crafts movement, rebuilt the church most effectively in 1880 using medieval materials, in particular the 14th century rood screen and some fragments of 14th century glass. His work included the font, the high pitched roof over the 15th or 16th century oak 'ceiling' and the spire over the offset bell turret.
There are some fine headstones in the churchyard.
