URPoint Details
The town was named after the Talbot family in the 18th century who pioneered industrial growth on the eastern shore of Swansea Bay.
The port has an enormous tidal harbour built to serve the industries of steel-rolling and a petroleum plant.
Margam Abbey southwest of town was founded by Robert, Earl of Gloucester in 1147 and only part remain including the chapter house.
