URPoint Details

A small and quiet village between Loch Laich, an inlet of Loch Linnhe and Airds Bay, on the Lynn of Lorne in the Appin district with a pier where steamers call from Oban.

Airds House is 18th century and the church of Appin is on the Oban to Ballachulish road.

To the southeast of the church, the road takes you to the head of Loch Creran with its mountainous background and overlooking the lonely Glen Creran.

An area of historic interest including the murder of Colin Campbell of Glenure for which James Stewart (James of the Glen), was hanged which caused an outcry as an injustice by the people here in the west.

Castle Stalker sits on a little island on Loch Linnhe built as a hunting lodge for James IV by a Stewart of Appin.
