URPoint Details

This stunning Aqueduct is regarded as one of Thomas Telford's greatest civil engineering achievements for its dramatic size, setting and revolutionary construction.
Telford designed a cast iron trough 11 feet 10 inches wide and 1,007 feet long laid along the top of 18 stone piers to carry the Llangollen Canal 121 feet above the River Dee.
You can hire your own canal boat, take a cruise or even dine on board a special restaurant boat. Brave walkers can take a stroll along the towpath - but you do need a head for heights.

People already come from all over the UK and the world to see it because it is the highest aqueduct, one of the longest and one of the first made from cast iron.
