URPoint Details
A fine ruin on the banks of the Black Burn and was a Cistercian monastery founded by Alexander II in 1230, was originally a Valliscaulin house.
In 1454, it became a priory of the Benedictine Abbey of Dunfermline until the suppression on monastic life in Scotland in 1560 and has been partially restored by the Marquis of Bute.
Large circular windows are a fine feature of the transepts and the choir is dated from the 13th century.
