An enchanting fishing port with some great caves for exploring, especially St Fillan’s, named after an Irish monk and dates from around 650AD.
One of the picturesque Royal Burghs in the county with old houses grouped around the little harbour.
An Augustinian Priory was founded here in 1141 of which only a few remains can be seen in the parsonage. The church has a lovely tower dated 1592 and resembles a castle rather than a church.
