URPoint Details
The highest hill in Dorset rises to 909ft and the view to the south over Marshwood Vale is spectacular. Nearby is a short path leading to its top which is ringed by an Iron Age earthwork.
At Racedown House, less than a mile away to the west of the summit and visible from the road, Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy lived for a while in the 1790s.
The road east to Broadwindsor is where the fugitive Prince Charles spent a night on his way to Charnmouth in 1651. There is a plaque commemorating this on a cottage in its centre.
