URPoint Details
The Pheasant Inn, set in the Northumberland National Park, is everything a country inn should be.
Originally a farm, it is nearly four centuries old, with stone walls and low beams. The Barn and Hemmel now house eight delightfully appointed rooms. On the ground floor there is one room with level access and no steps and four rooms which have one step.
The two bars and dining room, with their wealth of beams and open fires, feature many old farm implements, pictures of the valley as it used to be, with its many characters, together with antique copper and brass ware and fine food.
It became a staging post for mail and tax collection, but has since developed into a welcoming and homely oasis, to accommodate tourists and locals alike.
The Pheasant is convenient for visiting many places of interest in Northumbria with its castles, National Trust coastline with fine beaches, fishing villages and golf courses. Cragside House and Wallington Hall are close by, as is Hadrian's Wall, and just a few miles north you enter the Scottish Borders region, which has many Castles and Stately homes.
Ideal for fishing, sailing, pony-trekking, water ski-ing and windsurfing.
