Access to castle and grounds: inner and outer bailey accessible to wheelchair users via mainly impacted gravel paths and some rough grass pushers necessary no access to towers ambulant disabled visitors can usually use steps down to towers and dungeons with assistance handrails in North and South Towers benches provided wheelchair users must retrace their steps to avoid exit turnstiles. Special tape tour available cannon, grave stones and catapult balls to touch (note) steep stairs in North tower, otherwise reached via external staircase. Tape tour with hearing loop available. Adapted unisex WC near car park but RADAR key is only available April-October, from TIC. Refreshments available from Castle Cottage Tea Room (near car park), accessible to wheelchairs.
This medieval castle includes the remains of an unusual keep enclosed within its walls, which originally date back to the 4th century Roman Fort Anderida.
