The church of St Peter and St Paul, is 15th century with more recent additions. The pews are richly carved and there are 16th century brass of Francis Bacon and his two wives. One story relates how tramps used to bury their money in the graveyard and then dig it up when they were leaving the village. Rogues Lane is where money was usually buried.
