URPoint Details
The churches are named after St Piran the first dating from the 6th or 7th century, abandoned in the 11th century and later found in 1835 when three decapitated skeletons were discovered. The second church in 1150 was built on higher ground, but it was still not high enough to protect it from rising surfs. The third church was built in 1804 at Perranzabuloe a mile and a half south.
