The parish church of St John the Baptist reached through an ancient lych gate around which was built a two-storied Tudor house, now with bulging walls and bent, weathered timbers. The church was originally built in the 12th century and there is much work remaining from the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries.
The tower is 17th century and the window, formerly in Penshurst Place dates from 1627. The ornamented font dates is 15th century.
