URPoint Details
Four miles to the east of Blackburn is the 1831ft high Pendle Hill, which offers spectacular views over the Forest of Bowland, Fylde Plain and the Irish Sea.
George Fox had a vision on the summit in 1652, leading him to preach and form the Society of Friends.
The Hill is also associated with witchcraft – 19 of the witches tried at Lancaster Castle in 1612 were from this area.
