An attractive town set amongst the hills on the banks of the River Tweed.
Peebles has been a royal burgh since the 12th century is not only an ancient town but as an ancient resort. Royal parties used to frequent this part of the old Caledonian Forest for hunting.
The High Street boasts some wonderful shops, an old Mercat Cross, the ruins of Cross Church and the 15th century bridge still bears the makers mark.
To the north are the ruins of Cross Kirk standing high above Eddleston Waters, founded in 1261.
