A village set in peaceful countryside with Pamber Forest, fields and a magnificent avenue of oaks.
Pamber Priory Church, once attached to the Benedictine abbey in Normandy, and in the 15th century became obsolete and now belongs to Queen’s College, Oxford. The Norman central tower and beautiful Early English choir were part of the old priory. The piscina is also Early English and various coffin slabs, one of the most interesting is the 12th century inscribed with Gothic lettering, and another is the carved wooden effigy of a knight dating from the 13th or 14th century. He lies dressed in his chain mail, with his legs crossed resting on a lion.
