House: level path to two stone steps at front door, or level access through garden door; all ground floor rooms accessible except Great Hall, which can be seen very well from the door. Garden: accessible as far as steps to yew garden; seats on terrace. Shop, inaccessible to wheelchair users; yew trees and hedges may be touched. Guide dogs admitted.

Seven acres of Grade 1 Listed garden with famous yew garden said to represent The Sermon on the Mount', was originally set out by john Fetherston around 1650-70. A large single yew set on a tall mound is reached by a spiral path, with 12 large yew trees on the terrace below. Many more yews, representing the multitude, were planted below in the 1850s in what was once the orchard. The 17th century terrace raised walk is reached via the semi-circular brick steps, with an 18th century wrought iron gate at the top. Set into the wall on one side are ‘bee holes' used for housing woven bee hives. The Caroline garden beside the house is enclosed by 17th century brick
