Once the village stood inside the borders of Sherwood Forest, it has lovely red-brick houses and a stream flows from Oxton Dumble past the churchyard before joining Dover Beck.
The Church of St Peter and St Paul stands near the centre of the village, with its entrance overshadowed by a giant yew tree said to be over 600years old.
