Hall open Easter to end October, Saturday to Wednesday 1 to 5pm. Bank Holiday Monday 11am to 5pm. Garden open same days as the Hall but between 12noon to 5.30pm. Admission charge; no dogs allowed; baby slings available; tearoom.
Disabled parking adjoining ticket office; grass and gravel surfaces. House: via 200 yard firm gravel path; shallow ramp to four ground floor rooms, exit available from fourth; access to upper floors impossible with many difficult stairs. Moat & Garden: some care is needed if approaching the moat closely; garden is fairly easily negotiated; route map available. Chapel: 100 yards from Hall; two shallow steps into porchway. Toilets are located on the ground floor of the West Wing. Tearoom and shop are within Hall; reached by separate entrance in central courtyard; easy access.
Moated mansion built in 1482 by the Bedingfield family and is the most picturesque house. The massive Tudor Gate House is very impressive and the octagonal turrets rise 80ft from the moat which surrounds the house. It did have a drawbridge but that was replaced in 1710 by a bridge.
