Set in 140 acres of landscaped park with lakes, Osterley is one of the last great houses with an intact estate in Greater London, and completed in 1575 for Sir Thomas Gresham, founder of the Royal Exchange. The mansion was transformed into an 18th century villa with neo-classical interior decoration by Robert Adam between 1760 and 1780 for the banker, Robert Child.
A delightful 142 acre, 18th century park with a mansion dating back to the Elizabethan times. The park is well known for its fine specimens of trees (particularly oaks) including Quercus cerris, Quercus frainetto, Turkey and Hungary oaks. There is a fine temple and garden house designed by Robert Adam.
