There cannot be many farmers' markets at latitude 59 degrees north but this one is worth seeking out.
Held in Masonic Hall, Castle Street, Kirkwall from 9am to 2pm, last Saturday in each month. Here you will find top quality organic vegetables and herbs, local fish and beef, wool products, and locally made herbal soaps and shampoos.
Orkney is famous for the quality of its beef and dairy products but also for whisky and a beer named Skullsplitter!
