URPoint Details
An upper hall house dated around 1250 and enlarged by Sir Henry Fitzherbert at the beginning of the 14th century.
The first-floor hall built over an undercroft, containing a kingpost roof which may have been installed in the 17th century.
The original Gothic 2 light windows in the west wall and a Tudor fireplace are original features.
The knot garden parish church (not NT) dating from the early 14th century has a good number of interesting Fitzherbert monuments with a stone effigy of Sir Henry who died in 1315.
The house was restored by late Marcus Stapleton-Martin who left it to the National Trust.
