URPoint Details
One of the most attractive villages in the county, with buildings of local ironstone and where the narrow North Lane leads you to Linacre Wood where there are three reservoirs supplying Chesterfield with water.
The Church of St Peter and St Paul is impressive with its medieval tower and spire. The clock on the south side has to be unique as it only has 63 minutes marked on it. Many years ago, supposedly a craftsman was due to repaint the clock face, took refreshment at the inn.
He returned some time later, worse for wear so that there are now seven divisions between I and II, four between IV and V, six between VII and VIII, and six between X and XI.
