The village with its irregular green lies above the Medway Valley was once a Saxon settlement and first mentioned in AD832 when King Ethelwulf granted ‘Ofnehamne’ to the Church of Canterbury.
Cottages, Georgian houses with a Norman church make up this village of stone, timber and local brick.
