Open all year daily noon-4pm, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Vehicle access restricted to entrance car park November to Easter. Car park charge; dogs on leads where cattle and sheep are grazing around the lake.

Disabled reserved parking from Easter to October, close to lake; from November to Easter the mile of metalled road from the entrance car park to lake is fully accessible to wheelchair users. Many paths and rides are wheelchair accessible; two routes are particularly suitable; details from kiosk at entrance.

Over 1,000 acres of ancient woodland, once part of the royal forests of Essex. This historic landscape has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with an observation hide for bird watching and a nature walk. The chase and rides afford excellent walks, and there is good coarse fishing on the two lakes.
