North Newbald YO43 4SX

URPoint Details

The Church of St Nicholas is a Grade I Listed and built about 1140, it has been described as the "finest Norman church in East Yorkshire". It has a Cruciform" plan without aisles and with a tall central tower. Three Norman doorways make the building rare. Pevsner describes the church as the most complete church in the East Riding. The church has a Coronation Clock which was installed at the coronation of George V in 1 911. A previous vicar of Newbald, The Rev Jack Walker, during his incumbency mapped the whole area and produced detailed plans.
