An attractive village with timber-framed cottages and an ancient barn, and just north are the Wittenham Clumps part of the Sinodun hills.
The church set amongst trees is Norman in origin but has a delightful 14th century chantry dedicated to the Stapleton family. The east window has beautiful glass showing 15 scenes from the life of Christ, the Virgin Mary, St Peter, St Paul and St Nicholas.
