North and South Creake

North and South Creake

North and South Creake , England

URPoint Details

The Lord of the Manor is Earl Spencer of Althorpe.

The two villages are linked by the River Burn and were mentioned in the Domesday Book.

Just to the south of South Creake village is the site of an ancient Iron Age settlement.
The village sign on the green at South Creake has on one side St Mary's church and a ploughman, and on the other side is a battle scene.

St Mary's Church in North Creake was rebuilt in the 1450's and has a good hammer-beam roof.

St Mary's Church in South Creake is a mixture of Perpendicular and Decorated styles with a magnificent hammer beam roof.  The 15th century pulpit and brasses dating from 1400, the screen and font are all very interesting.
